Why does " Private " show up on my contact's phone when I call them, instead of my name? How can I fix this problem on my Lumina 928, which I just received.

It sounds as if you have Caller ID information blocked.
Try adding *82 to the beginning of the number and see if your phone number is listed when you call. If so, you have Caller ID Blocking turned on for your line.
Log into your MyVerizon account navigate to Change Features and remove Caller ID Blocking from your line. Your number should then be shown when you make a call.
