Every other carrier no! Just AT&T.
Always good to know facts before making such statements.

No matter if ATT is the only US proider to release the update ... We are approaching 3 months since it was released and still no update from Verizon (the largest wireless provider with nearly endless resources). They can't even muster a statement indicating when the update might be released. It is pathetic. Anyone who thinks otherwise is the same ...

No statement needed from Verizon Wireless. They don't even have to update your device outside of when you purchased it.
This issue has been beat to death on other forum threads.
Bottom line, if Verizon wants to release it they will. If they don't "No customer has any rights to complain/receive about it" It would be a business decision on the cellular carriers part.
Sorry but true.

I've been looking around these forums and I've noticed something. You seem to show up on EVERY SINGLE THREAD related to this topic. For someone so disinterested you sure seem to be putting a lot of effort into telling people how wrong they are. Why is that?

Well let me explain, I also post to many others but as to your inquiry.
I don't mind people coming into a help forum and complaining, I don't mind some of the unfactual postings. I refer to the first post of " Complain to the FCC" which has no jurisdiction over any cellular carrier in regards to device updates. ( this has also been borne out by some of the folks that have complained)
If you also look at the " Contact Verizon and demand the update" how should a carrier reply to these types of posts other than either silence or the sign up for notifications. ( both of which Verizon has done)
We then had people post that *if* Verizon releases the update they believe Verizon tech support is responsible to fix that device that craps out due to that update. Again sort of wrong in that assumption. Verizon did not tell you to update the device. It was the device maker and os developer that messed up the update, not Verizon.
I personally don't care if updates are pushed out or not. Even on my own devices. When I purchased my iphones 5s I did not care if Apple updated it or not. I did not get upset knowing phones I purchased under a year ago have a new moniker as the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.
I did not come to the forum and keep yelling for an update. ( yes I know Apple does their own) however read the forum and you have those Verizon ruined my device and they better give me another one or Apple better do it. Or this is not working and looking for tech support. Again Verizon had nothing to do with those updates.
Now you read Verizon should give an answer as to when it will release the updates to windows phones. Why would they as I explained above? I am just trying to get folks to think before they go off on wild goose chases, and making complaints that are simply a waste of time and effort.
Has anyone ever asked why they believe they are entitled to any updates? Not just here but on any carrier.
And if you are being honest you would know that there is no entitlement outside of date of initial purchase.
Like I pay for my firmware updates on my new car, that should be the way it is done for device updates.
Could even be a subscription based updates. Then how many folks here would be complaining for their updates?
Just think about it for a minute.
Have a nice evening.

Electra, you are nothing but a bucket of sunshine aren't ya! You're the kind of person who would rip the wings off a fly & tell him "flying is overrated." The remaining two days of his life will be well grounded. We are getting tired of your Eeyore explanations telling us how great your rotary dial cell phone is at modem connections. You're "shut up & eat your cake" attitude is growing old. Get off your <ctrl-v> button for every post on this subject.
In your infinite wisdom tell me why AT&T has released the updates & not VZW. Don't ignore the fact that AT&T has a smaller market than Big Red & is willing to keep their customer's happy with updates & open communication. Then tell me if none of us complained on this forum, that the updates would come any faster. (According to you we don't deserve updates.)
I don't think it to be unreasonable to ask about updates I was promised when I bought the Icon. No communication leads to speculation & buyer's remorse. Nothing but bad press.
Don't say too much, you may reveal your Verizon Employee number. (or are you an agent of AT&T? Hmmm.)

Different technologies(CDMA vs GSM) mean there CAN be different testing procedures.

I think your information may be a bit out of date. While Verizon may have a larger market share, they are basically equal. Verizon's Top Spot Threatened As AT&T Catches Up - Forbes

In this global economy every company struggles to sustain growth. I haven't seen any company willing to give even a one percent market share to their competitors. Because in the financial world when this happens your seen as playing catch up. I figure this is the reason even the almighty Apple is willing to set aside its own brands in order to run Microsoft products on it's devices. so I'm betting the people running Verizon will come to their senses and push the updates out

Quite possibly with that thinking... They have nothing to do with the delay with the way you are thinking.
Just saying. Speculation can go both ways. I still think it's Nokia using as little resources as it can. AT&T bought the most product this time around so they had more resources allocated to their devices. That's what most companies do

The problem here is not growth as much as profitability.
Windows phones are not profitable. In any business you visit like Best Buy and Walmarts they place the items that sell the best front and center. Many Best Buy stores and Staples stores do the same thing.
A manufacturer can market their goods via any means to get that product to sell. But it does not mean the buying public is going to jump on that product.
There have been many great products that have died right out of the gate. Its a gamble.
Verizon and other wireless carriers operate on customer base. As of the news this morning Verizon is still adding a load of customers. The devices they carry in my opinion are geared only towards future profitability numbers.
Say you buy an LG device brand new, its android (#1 selling OS) but that OS is used by other manufacturers to market Samsung or HTC or any other android based devices. They are selling on many fronts. But that is actually a one time sale and the sale has to last the carriers at least 2 years. If the devices operate as expected Verizon has a happy customer base.
Now lets move to the Windows devices, like Blackberry they are in the bottom of their profit margins. Very low sales numbers, and the customer base just does not want the devices. In back thinking if the windows phones are anything like how they run their PC/Tablet business of constant updates after updates why bother.
Even Apple has a huge following so between those two platforms Windows phones don't matter to a hill of beans. The greater numbers of the other platforms is what the carriers try to placate.
I sell 2 billion android or iOS devices and I sell 100 million Windows Phones where do you think my profits are going to come from?
Apple is getting paid big money from Microsoft to run their apps and programs. And look it up. Many of these programs are scaled back versions. It was done because Microsoft saw revenue losses due to the wide popularity of the iOS devices.
They are joining Apple and not Apple joining Microsoft.
Its all about the money. That is what big business is around for, to make money. They don't care about phone updates as long as the customers are joining up for their services.

There is no profit in Windows phones right now. Its Androids and iOS for every windows owner that jumps to another carrier two or more sign up for service.
However think of this in another light. You jump to AT&T or Sprint or T-Mobile. You paid money for the device you have now with Verizon. Microsoft/Nokia and Verizon made money on that sale. Throw in all the months you paid for connectivity to the network, more money in the corporate pockets. Now you leave, you have to pay the new carrier or retail store for another device, another activation charge and more monthly payments. You are now paying out more money to the corporations which include Microsoft.
Then get angry again and go to another provider and it starts all up again.
Its a never ending cycle of money being shelled out and we the consumers are still losing.
A real pity this is corporate America!

As stated in another thread, Verizon's silence on Cyan seems to be fueling animosity. A good business practice is to respond with urgency and stay in communication with their customers. Ignoring them or responding with incorrect information or pacification will create dissatisfaction. It's always best to protect the company name with great communication.

The problem is that marketing is the one testing this update. I heard this directly from Bridget in the Verizon Execute Office. As long as they let marketing do the testing they are not going to release updates in a timely manner. Marketing job is to get you to buy new devices. Bridget even indicated that she knows that Verizon is usually behind every other carrier in releasing updates. Oh well. -1000 for Verizon.

Yep another place to send complaints that will do absolutely no good.
They simply change the email address to go to a null server. I use to do that with our government email that was sent to employees who changed their addresses, left the agency, had too much spam sent to them.
email bombardment etc etc. etc.
And the obvious thing is they don't read any of their own email.
Unless you know the person at the company personally the email sent to that address either disappears in to the black hole of emaildom, or is monitored by a secretary or office clerk. In either case totally useless.

Well here some education for you on what happens when you contact an executive. First it's not a direct email to the executive but a form you fill out. Then his executive representative gets it and decides what to do with it. If they proceed with the request you get what happened to fkmalone and get call back from someone from the Executive Office to discuss.
