Windows 8 phone upgrade failed - now what???

I'm using a Nokia 822.  My phone alerted me today that a software update was available, so I downloaded it (on wi-fi) and let it install as I was leaving.  It showed spinning dials then rebooted but never got past the "Verizon" screen.  I tried resetting with a small wire, it restarted but didn't load the start screen.  So I tried pulling the battery and then restarting.  Same result.  Other ideas?  What do I do now?

I installed the update yesterday also. It appeared to work, but today I can't get Facebook to come up. It starts and then immediately goes back to the phone start page. I have a Nokia 928. Should I uninstall and try re-installing Facebook?

It wouldn't hurt to uninstall and re-install.

VolGal47, we love keeping you connected to your friends and family on Facebook. Have you powered your device off/on since retrieving the update? If the issue still persists after powering your phone off/on, then the next best step would be to uninstall the Facebook application and then redownload it. Keep us posted.

Try the Windows Phone Recovery Tool, http://download-fds.webapps.microsoft.com/supportFiles/phones/files/recovery/WindowsPhoneRecoveryToo...  It will do a factory reset so all the data/apps will be lost.

After multiple hard restarts (pulled battery), the phone reset itself to factory settings.  I reinstalled my Microsoft account and it pushed my email and contacts back onto the phone so functioning again.  Lost my apps and other downloads that were stored on the SIM card, but at least it's functioning again.  Will have to reinstall FB and social networking sites.

I am still having issues after contacting Microsoft who swears there is no issue. I have tried all the suggestions above, to no avail.

I can download the update, but it will not let me actually update the phone.

"Can't update Phone

It's probably a temporary problem. To try again, go to Settings > Phone update.

(0x80188308)"

Still having an issue. I have tried with full data bars, with Wi-Fi, rebooting, restoring factory settings, SD card removal, clearing cache, clearing all data/internet/cookies, ect, I have tried everything listed above.

IF anyone can help it would be much appreciated.

I use my phone for business, and my apps functions are starting to fail, this is ridiculous. If I cannot connect to my clients, this creates a huge problem for me.

Yea, a family member of mine had this issue.  Even though she had ~ 2.6 GB of space, I removed a bunch of her pictures and restarted the phone.  After the reboot, I was able to get the hotfix installed.

Note:  The hotfix did NOT install immediately after freeing up the space, but only after the reboot.  This doesn't work for everyone, but it is working for many people.

Eeyore2015,

We appreciate you taking those steps to fic your phone and get the software update to install, I'm sorry this is still ginving you some problems. I have a link that may help, includes some additional steps http://bit.ly/1dgHHB9. The most important is perhaps checking your storage capacity to ensure you have enough available. Also, I see you stated you began to download the update while on wi-fi but then left, did you take the phone with you? In addition, these are the only error codes http://bit.ly/1CtxtUH that may be encoutered while downloading the update.

I did check storage capacity before downloading. I also did not leave while downloading, I stated I tried to install both on Wi-Fi AND Verizon data, to which neither worked. I didn't get the error when downloading....but when trying to install the update. As far as that specific error code, I have a screenshot that says what I quoted so I can verify this is the correct error message.

Eeyore2015 Thank you for attempting to troubleshoot the issue. Are you having issues with using data in any other application or install? As for the screenshot, we can't see any attachments. If you have an error code just type it here for us.
