If Verizon would get a 4G Windows Phone, that would be great. Even if it doesn't ship with Mango...we all know current devices will get a Mango update. So thats ok with me.

zekester wrote:I just got the Trophy. I like the phone, but I feel like it's missing a lot of features that I came to depend on with Android. Are there work-arounds for these items?
1. LED does not notify when there are new texts, emails, or missed phone calls.
2. No voice to text transcription for text messaging.
3. Phone, mail, and messaging icons are way too big on the home screen - but you can't really get rid of them or there is no way to be notified...
4. No turn by turn directions.
5. Calendar seems to only display one upcoming appt on the start screen icon.
6. I can't figure out how to customize my ringtone. Am I missing something?
7. No kissy smiley. I know it's dumb but I wish I had one.
8. I can't figure out how to search for images on Bing.
9. Any way to tether this phone to a laptop?
Some improvements of WP7 over Android:
1. The keyboard. I love the WP7 keyboard.
2. Facebook integration is pretty cool.
3. Being able to use my Zune Pass on the phone... but it seems kind of clunky. Lots of clicks required to get to the song I want and it's not immediately obvious that I can play the song without buying it.
4. I like how the camera works.
5. It seems to detect wifi networks much better than my droid ever did.
6. The animations are pretty schnazzy.
Overall I like the interface, but there is a steeper learning curve than I anticipated coming from Android, and some functionality seems to be missing.
Many of your concerns have already been addressed. I will speak as someone who has been using Mango for the past four weeks.
Text to voice and voice to text - I have my phone set so that anytime it is BT linked, it will announce incoming texts. That way, when I'm in my car, and my phone is automatically linked, if I get a text, it is announced, I am given the option to hear it, and when I hear it, I am given the option to reply to it, and I can speak that reply. That means I can receive a text, as well as reply to it, without ever taking the phone out of its case on my belt, and never taking my eyes off the road. NICE.
Turn by Turn directions - they're in the phone now, but I don't use them, so all I can tell you is that I'm of the understanding that you just have to tap the screen in order to get the next direction, or tap the screen anytime you want a direction repeated. This has to do with there being a patent on something like having it automatically go to the next direction, based on location. The mobile world has become an unprotected wilderness full of patent trolls, too. Independent developers are being sued based on patents that are so vague that they should have never been issued.....
Calender does only display one event on lock screen. I don't think there is a way to change that.
Ringtones are coming with Mango. Currently you cannot customize (on nodo) without jailbreaking your phone, and under Mango, the jailbreak will not work. However, under Mango, you will be able to use a sound file (WMA or MP3) as a ringtone if it is under 1 MB, less than 29 seconds (if I remember right), and the Genre is Ringtone. Just set the Genre in Zune desktop, drag it to the phone, and there you go - it appears in the list with standard ringtones.
Kissy smiley? Mango has done some new things with smileys, but not being a smiley using person, I don't know if they've added that one.
In Mango, there is an Image search in Bing.
Currently there is no tethering supported. There have been ways to do this with SOME phones under NoDo, but they will not work under Mango. It has not been announced (to my knowledge) if this is going to be a feature of Mango or any other build, though I believe it has also not been denied. The biggest barrier to this, as mentioned before, is carriers wanting to be able to monetize it.
Also, people have mentioned 4G. 4G is not supported in NoDo, and as far as I know, it is not yet supported in Mango, though I could be wrong on that one - I personally don't care about 4G, as 1) it is not in my area and won't be for some time, 2) it is a battery hog, and 3) 3G is fast enough to keep me happy for a while.

If I recall correctly, 4g LTE is supported in Mango. Manufacturers just need to build phones that include the 4g capability. *hint, hint* Verizon...
