"In late 2011, one of the sticking points for Verizon Wireless in broadly adopting Windows Phone was the lack of 4G LTE support. AT&T also took issue with this missing feature as strategically they are looking to offload network congestion to their new high-speed spectrum."

Once again, VZW - help us understand your line in the sand with taking on some new Windows Phone? "Oh, we are still waiting for Apollo?!?" Every day on any given WP Forum I see more and more Verizon customers leaving for Pink or AT&T. The AT&T Stores are having a field day with this information, too!

i'd love for ALL of you windows phone fans to get a new device.......but the simple fact is that their market share dropped from 3% to 2% over the past year. this isn't a trend that verizon wants to invest much in to. if you owned a business would you want to carry and push products with a declining market share? verizon learned an expensive lesson with the palms and i suspect they are going to be very cautious about investing much into an unproven platform. as apps expand and if market share expands, they will carry more devices. if an auto dealer sells 50% hondas, 48% nissans, and 2% fords, should they get a bunch of different ford models?

So let's see who came up with the 2% growth number for Windows Phone?
Oh, that would be Strategy Analytics: http://www.strategyanalytics.com/
The same Strategy Analytics who came up with: http://www.strategyanalytics.com/default.aspx?mod=reportabstractviewer&a0=6938
Written by a doorknob in the UK named Stuart who used to work for Apple (and has no Microsoft exposure): http://www.strategyanalytics.com/default.aspx?mod=biography&a0=728
In reality, as a public company, Verizon has not much say in terms of what devices they get to carry. They can put their own spin on things as they communicate to their board - but it's the board and investor folk who drive the decisions. Wishful thinking that these investors would read the good things about the Windows Phones. High customer sat, customer friendly OS, easy to support, low end to high end device options, etc. Unfortunatly, most of the investors are punch drunk on their Droid cocktails and are currently enjoying a high percent of Verizon Droid customers. In addition, stupid things that Microsoft did - like the KIN phones - do nothing but leave Verizon investors and board members burn victims.

exactly. palm=TOTAL fail....and kin=bust. android and iphone are gold so you can't really blame them for sticking with them can you?
and they have all the say in what they carry. if it sells, they'll carry it. if it doesn't, they wont. shareholders don't care about customer satisfaction or friendly OS. they care about their return on investment.

there's also quite a few other sources that cite market share.....some as low as less than 1%.

So... if a carrier doesn't even offer quality devices.... and you wonder why the market share is low??? Really?
I'll bet the VZW offered as many Windows phones in the same tiers as Android so people would have choices, your statistic would be thrown out the window. Go into any VZW store and try to find the single Windows Phone (it's probably in the back corner) and then try to find a sales person that actually knows anything about it. I've been to dozens of VZW stores and have found only two employees that knew that they even had one and only one knew how to use it (because it was also his personal phone.)

What's sad is that VZW didn't want a non-LTE Windows phone, but tripped all over themselves bringing in the non-LTE iPhone....

What's for lunch today Freak? You are on a "Freak'in" roll today!
Did you have to bring those iPhones into the mix? Getting tired of hearing Verizon cry that they are not making any money off of them. Choked thier CDMA network, expensive to support, blah, blah, blah.

this isn't a verizon statistic. it's a U.S. statistic, and, correct me if i'm wrong, but doesn't AT&T offer 3 or 4 different models? verizon carried one android at first and guess what happened. sales went through the roof for that device so they carried more, and more sales, and they carried more, and so on. you get the point. it's not up to them to carry a bunch of different models for an OS with an small market share. it's up to that OS to gain market share and grab verizon's attention. i promise you that if these devices on at&t that a dozen people here keep saying they will leave for sell very well, then verizon will take notice. there was one iphone when verizon got it and they sold millions of it. the trophy simply didn't sell.
