Local Verizon sales clerk talked me into a Windows Phone instead of the Android one I wanted. The phone is great! The availability of available apps suck!!! I can't wait for my contract to end to go back to android. Does other Windows Phone users find this to be true?
If it has been under 14 days inclusive of the day you bought it, just walk back in to the Verizon Wireless store and return it.
It will cost you $35 restocking fee but you can get the device you really want. This way you won't be hating Verizon for two years.
You could also just pay for the device outright at full price, swap ESN/emeid for the new device for the old and then sell the windows phone for a higher price that you paid and that should depending on what device you buy cover most of the cost.
Good Luck

I hear you, Tom. I used a Windows phone (Lumia 928) for awhile, and loved the camera, the browser, the screen was bright and sharp, it was responsive and a solid phone overall. But I came to the Lumia from an Android, and I also have an Android tablet. The Android phone and tablet sync well, and I can grab apps on the computer, or either device, and it can be sent to any or all of the other devices. The app choices for the Windows phone were not up to par.
There were some that were good, and some that were not. Google+ was cartoony and awkward, where I use G+ on my Android ALL the time! The selection and quality was not close to what is available on the Android platform.
For a starter phone, for someone not already invested in Android apps, it may be a good choice. For someone tied to Office products, and Skydrive (which did work well, and I still have that account), and uses the phone as a business device centered on MS stuff, it may be an ideal fit. For me, Android seems to be a much better fit; so I am back to an Android device.
There's now about 200,000 apps for the Windows Phone. Is there something in particular you're looking for?
The list is
too long to list here. Local news stations have apps only available for android/iPhone. Facebook for Windows phone "sucks" compared to android ( I know, I can always go to the web site . But phone always defaults to the mobile site). Anytime I see an app recommended by a magazine article I'm interested in, they're never available for the Windows phone. This frustrates the scrap out of me. Maybe there are 200000 apps available, but how about some useful ones.
If you are stuck with it and need specific apps you can always pin the specific website to your home screen. They will be like web app shortcuts. If they don't have websites then you are SOL for now.
Honestly I dont think the Windows ecosystem will be lacking too much in 2 years. In the past year I've had my 928 the market has exploded from 50k apps to 200k.
As for Facebook, download Facebook Beta. It has more beta features that all seem to be fairly glitch free. The Live tile update feature is pretty cool. The only thing you still cant see are emoticons in messaging. It gets updated fairly regularly so it should be up to par very very shortly
yes, I can not get any of the apps i want.
I am also having trouble with my phone always wanting to update eating up all my data. I am on my second one after having this problem several times before, so they sent me a new one and I have had it 2 months and it is starting to do the same thing.
I also have trouble with sending texts and receiving texts for I phones.
Thanks! I'll give Facebook beta a try.
