In case you have a Macintosh--this is my experience:

-Choose USB Mass Storage

-Window on Mac pops up and says your device is not recognized. Options are to Initialize, Ignore, or Eject. Online Verizon chat person Sierra said to try Initialize, so I did.

-You should be able to see the new storage area. It should have folders for My flics, My pictures, My music, etc. If it doesn't eject and reconnect.

-The computer may show a CD-ROM connection. Ignore this and wait.

-The window on the mac pops up again. This time, choose Ignore.

-You should see the folders for My flics, my pictures, my musics. You can now copy and paste music and picture files to and from the phone and the computer. The phone has somewhat limited ability to read file formats. Seems to read mp3 but not m4p. It reads jpg fine. I couldn't get it to read any of my video formats, mov or rm or m4v. The phone itself stores video as 3g2, and quicktime on mac seems to handle that fine.
