when trying to get my voicemail I get error message, hang up and try call again, including the area code...messag 5 switch 15-2?

Are you dialing *86 or your full 10-digit number? If you haven't been using the 10-digit number, it's a good habit to get into, since the *86 only works in your "home" area, not when traveling. Try the full ten digits and let us know what happens.
