my nokia 928 was on the wireless charger overnight. the phone now displays the screen where you slide up to log in but will not respond to any gesture input. holding the power button will not turn the phone off. the phone will beep when placed on the wire

You could try to hold the volume down button and power button at the same time. This usually only works when the device is completely powered off though.
