octane shuts down

For 2 nights in a row, my daughter has pluggd in her octane. It was turned on and she noted the fact that it was charging. In the morning, her alarm hasn't gone off and she is disappointed to see that the phone had shut itself off during the night. What do we do? This has been her normal routine since getting the phone and she had no troubles until 2 nights ago.

thanks

This behavior sounds to me somewhat similar to complaints from some customers about another non-smartphone called the Motorola Barrage. For some of these affected customers, one of or both of these things helped:

- see if there's a newer firmware that you can install on the phone

Your Octane might have an option on the phone to see if an newer firmware is available that it will then try to install

- On at least two websites I saw a few comments that said that turning the phone off prior to connecting it to a wall outlet to recharge sidestepped this problem. The wording of your post sounds like maybe the phone is being left turned on prior to beginning the recharging. On a related note, I don't know if what I'm about to say is still true. But in the past I've come across comments that said that perhaps recharging a Verizon non-smartphone via a usb port might not be healthy for either the phone or the battery and that recharging via plugging the phone into an outlet might be the ideal way to recharge a phone

Also, if this family member has been a little bit less than gentle in removing the charging cable from the phone, perhaps the charging port on the phone and/or the connector on the cable have become worn enough that a reliable physical connection isn't possible anymore. Perhaps it could be necessary either to buy a new charging cable or buy an accessory to charge the battery separately. I don't know what the quality is of accessories that charge the battery separately.

Thank you MojaveMoon_ for assisting mnfarmer.

Mnfarmer, have you tried another battery or another charger? This issue can be due to issues with your charger. We can certainly try different troubleshooting techniques to determine the cause of the issue and find a resolution. Send me a private message with your name and account number.

I will contact you to assist you further.

Looking forward to your reply.

Thank you,

Lena A.
