Exactly.  If you have another wireless carrier option, I can only suggest that you vote with your dollars.

Maybe this needs to happen.
Verizon eventually drops the Windows phones. Die-Hard WP fans go over to AT&T. Updates are pushed out directly from Microsoft to the phones. Users no longer suffer from Verizon's deafening silence over upcoming updates and new releases. Microsoft can focus the device for the AT&T carrier.
I love my Lumia Icon but the speed of the last update took way too long. The 950 XL looks like a winner.

Verizon DID NOT drop Windows phones. They're still selling the Lumia 735, the LG Lancet, and the HTC One M8. Lack of the Lumia 950 on Verizon is 100% Microsoft's fault. Why did Microsoft forgo HALF the potential customers in the U.S. by refusing to produce a CDMA version??? Plenty of manufacturers put ALL the bands in new phones. And Verizon is now even allowing non-Verizon phones that meet the requirements to be activated on their network. It's Microsoft that said no to Verizon, not the other way around. Complain to Redmond.

Microsoft did admit that it is taking a restricted position with the 550 and the 950s.

All of the Lumia phones on the market today are Nokia designed. The 550 and the 950s were on the boards when Microsoft bought out Nokia's handset division.

The rumored Surface Phone would be the first Windows phone wholly designed by Microsoft. This device would logically be created to accommodate as many carriers as possible.

If the Surface Phone bombs, it would be difficult for Microsoft to continue to grow Windows Mobile devices...unless...like the Surface and Surface Pro...it takes multiple redesigns before the company hits paydirt.

VZW did offer a solution to my error code......told me to turn "automatic down load feature" off.
