My husband DOES NOT want to switch to a smart phone. When his Convoy 3 stopped working, he purchased another one just like it. Now Verizon is saying that it isn't supported. That doesn't make any sense since this is his current phone that he is using. Has anyone else had this happen?

Verizon Wireless is planning to shutdown the CDMA network as they transition the frequencies to LTE. Some have claimed that Verizon Wireless will no longer activate CDMA only phones starting in July 2018 I think. There are VoLTE basic phones available for sale by Verizon Wireless. Perhaps those will work for you. Basic Phones | Verizon Wireless
I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

Hello, StumpMO3. We are in the process of no longer selling non-LTE basic phones. What is happening that you are being told that your husbands phone is no longer supported?

When I tried to activate the replacement Samsung Convoy 3, it would not activate and there was a message saying that it was an unsupported device.

We apologize for this inconvenience. Is that Samsung Convoy 3 phone a Verizon Wireless device? Was that device manufactured for another wireless carrier?

No offense wireless support but that phone is made specifically for Verizon and I explained twice already and as you could have already found out, non-LTE devices are no longer able to be activated on the network as of July 1st. You SHOULD have access to this info. I do and I'm just a customer.

Yes, exactly the same thing! It was the same one my 83 yr. old mother was using, I too bought another one (wasted $), So I go online to find out what's going and it says that the 4G LTE phones will work, so I buy that one and try to activate it, and it says that IT IS NOT SUPPORTED EITHER!! More wasted money....so I go to their website and both Convoy 3 and 4 are listed on their website, the very same ones I bought on Amazon, for a lot cheaper, NEITHER of which will work, due to system upgrades! Then why are they still advertising them for sale on their website ?????
I am about fed up with them, I'm on a month to month with them and am seriously considering switching.

It's important that your mother has a good-working phone to use on our 4G LTE network at all times. I'd love the opportunity to review your options with you.
You mentioned you previously purchased a 4G LTE phone for her but was unable to activate it. What was the exact model of the device you purchased for her? Also, here's a link to our current Basic Phone devices that will work on our network: http://spr.ly/66071HrQv. Do any of these interests you?

They clearly stated that it was a Convoy 4 that they purchased.
