I had to get a new phone due to my droid dying and decided to give a windows phone a try and all my pics were backed up to verizon's cloud via the app, can you now use this app on windows phones?  is one being developed?  I would not have got the windows phone had I known i couldn't resync all my pictures......  Not exactly happy about not being told this in the verizon store that a verizon app wouldn't work on a verizon phone...

I would suggest you first move the pictures to another Cloud storage location while your existing phone is partially functional.  There are a number of them.  One Drive is baked into a Windows phone.  Apple has iCloud.  OneDrive does not care about the device attaching to it unlike some of the others.  iCloud is an example of locking you out if you try to get something stored in the iCloud and NOT use an Apple device.  That said if the app vendor has locked them in their Cloud storage and the app is only found on a Android device (chance are it is) then your only choice is to move them.

Going from an Android based file structure to a Windows or Apple file structure is not straight up.  You may need to do what is called an export and then import to get a usable version of the picture.  You may need to email them to yourself or some app vendors actually will allow you to do it within the app or another app they supply/sell.

Good luck!

dying was probably too good of a term.. it turns on but thats as good as it gets, the touch screen is non responsive so can't unlock it  (it got dropped and hit just right this time it seems).  I use onedrive for a lot but not pics i take as using verizon's own app was a better deal in terms of space at the time.   I'm ok with third party apps having issues and I'm working on arounds for lots of things, but being this is a verizon app i would think they would get it working before selling the phone on their network, very disappointing.   I'll never touch an apple product so no worries there.  I've already emailed on vendor that made a photo vault app for tips on getting those pics off my old device but the non-locked files are rather annoying.  I can work around this via using the desktop version of verizon's cloud, download everything, move it to one drive.... but still disappointed in verizon at the moment.

Joining the club late I see.  Yeah I only use Verizon apps for strictly for Verizon stuff.  I don't trust them to build a decent app for any other purpose.  Sometimes a vendor can be helpful getting stuff off and to another platform sometimes they just say nope not going to happen.  Verizon seems to be more a nope not going to happen type.  Have fun and you know you have about 15GB of OneDrive space now, well some do some have not had it rolled out to them yet.

yeah when i first started using verizon's cloud app one drive was smaller, and never swtiched cause I figured hey its a verizon app they will always support it on any phone they sell......    guess i should have asked more directly.  I like the phone and new there would be some growing pains but didn't expect this one.

I have been burned 3 times so far during phone upgrades.  All were basically the same reason.  Verizon did not support moving the data from one phone to another.  If you don't upgrade within a certain window you get burned real fast.  They also don't work that hard to do cross platform moving of data, despite what the sales people tell you.  That is why I went with a Windows phone.  It merged with my Microsoft account and allowed me to "hold" copies of my data that I don't have to lose if and when I get a new phone or go to a different carrier.

Have you looked under the App store on the phone in the Verizon section to see if there is a Verizon cloud app?

yeah i'm noticing that... one thing i do like about the new windows phone is it seems there is less verizon bloatware and most can be unistalled..

I did look in the app store and there is no verizon cloud app.  So far i've got the app on my desktop and i'm going to get what I can that way... which seems to be missing some Smiley Sad    Also got a micro SD reader on order from amazon to try that approach.   Sometime after that i'll try a digitizer and screen R&R myself and hope for the best it seems.

xonnia  You found an app for Verizon Cloud in Google Play Store?  I tried to download it for my PC (since there isn't yet one for Windows Phone OS) but it said it is incompatible with PCs.

I got the desktop app from verizon's website its pretty lacking compared to the desktop apps for onedrive, and amazon even...

You are MUCH BETTER OFF using Outlook.com for backing up your contacts/calendar data and OneDrive for pictures. I have had nothing but trouble with Verizon's Backup+ solution on multiple platforms. Microsoft's cloud integrates beautifully with WP8 phones.

Yep already been moving pictures and files over to onedrive, had it forever and love it just trusted verizon to much here.   never used outlook.com for contacts though...  i'll look into that.

I was hoping to take my text threads from my Android RAZR and dump them to my HTC. I guess I will use SMS Backup & Restore to save them to my pc and hope a WinPhone version comes out soon

Xonnia you will need either an Outlook.com, Live.com, or Hotmail.com email account.  I am pretty sure you have one since you already have OneDrive.  The best part of using Outlook for your contacts is you can't just lose them like is possible if they are only on the phone.  They are available to your computer and phone.  Editing them is easy through the web site and adding them that way means it is so much easier to get things the way you want them to be.
