I'm not sure VZW is to blame. Microsoft/Nokia is still in the process if rolling out updates. The first update (Cyan) still doesn't show that it is ready for rollout for the Icon, and the newest (Denim) has been promised in Q4 of this year. VZW hasn't held these back, MS/N don't have them ready. That's my take.

fokini,

We know and understand the importance of having your phone's software up to date. However, at this time there isn't a release date avaiable for your software update. Stay up to date here: http://bit.ly/n5snpq

The only answer you're going to get from Verizon is "you'll get the update when you get it." If that's not ok with you, buy an iPhone. Or an Android phone. Or a BlackBerry.

Verizon doesn't even tell us officially whether they are working on it, whether they have a plan to deliver the update. All they say is watch their "news" page, mostly full of stuff that's not pertinent.

When you buy a phone that isn't considered a "flagship" phone and, on an platform that has probably the smallest market share you can expect this kind of sluggish support.

Use this link instead to check that update status. To the point.

..Verizon isn't going to upgrade the Icon, this is pretty clear .. meanwhile, at T-Mobile the inferior Nokia 635 comes with 8.1.. while here at Verizon, the phone built exclusively for Verizon can't get a simple upgrade after how many months that it's been available? .. it's been out long enough that new phones are being shipped with it.. you can stay with the company that is showing you how much you mean to them - or not, I choose not ..

From what I heard, the delay is due to the company's marketing strategy not a technical issue. Minimizing WP display floor space, minimize WP selections, and delay 8.1 rollout, all that just to redirect sales to other platform, mostly iPhone 6. For those of us who bought Lumia Icon... they really don't give a flying flock if we get the update. Verizon has never been a fan of WP or friend with MS/Nokia. First, their CTO think WP 7 was not going to make it, then Verizon didn't like WP 8 privacy policy preventing Verizon from spying on their customers...

If other carrier buy my Verizon contract out now, I would switch in a heat beat.

You aren`t going to get the update until it is outdated and irrelevant. Please understand that.

Its a known characteristic of Verizon.

The Icon didnt even come out until it was nearly out of date. Previously, BB update to allow Android apps on Z30 didnt come out until Z30s were nearly gone from Verizon. Before that, Droid Bionic was delayed right up until Droid Razr came out and one upped it.

Verizon does things at their own pace regardless how it affects its customers or how backwards it is.

Tidbits is going to respond to this with excuses for Verizon and will give Verizon every benefit of the doubt. I think its about time for the customers to get the benefits and for things to fall the customers way every now and then.
