What phone do you have? You can try powering the phone off, then back on again. You can try removing the battery for a minute or so, then reinserting it and rebooting the phone.
How old is the phone? If neither one of those works, and the phone is still under warranty, it can be replaced. If it's no longer under warranty, it may be time for a new phone.
