why is verizon saying my nokia 822 isnt a verizon device

who is telling you this, 822 is still showing on their support page. I upgraded back in the summer from my 822 to my 928 on the edge program.

I went in there and on my account on my line my phone used to show up as Nokia Lumia 822 now on my line it appears as just my SIM card number , and on there end it says my son card is installed on a non Verizon device, so that it makes my device not eligible for an upgrade

That is very odd. I just checked my account that I have 2 Lumia 822's on and both of them show up as 822's. Everything still looks fine with them. I am not sure why yours would be like that. Have you don't anything to your phone that would have changed anything? Like loading 8.1 developer on it?

yes I did that like a year ago and just over the past 2 weeks it shows up as nonvzw device ,and when I click on the link about mydevice it says server refuses to give requested information

Take some time and call support or go to a VZW store to get it resolved.
