E-Sim Activation on iPad Pro 11in Purchased from Verizon

I have been told it’s not possible to switch my existing iPad line that currently has a physical SIM to the ESIM which is installed on every iPad Pro. The device was originally purchased from Verizon. Why is this not possible? It’s the same process that would be used to accomplish the same thing on a phone.

Additionally, let’s say I had an iPad Pro 11in that was unlocked and had no physical SIM card in it and I wanted to activate on Verizon. Is it not possible to “bring your own device” and activate via esim in this circumstance? If so, then obviously esim activation IS possible for an iPad, so why wouldn’t a TRANSFER from a physical sim to the esim work for an existing iPad line with Verizon?

Why would you want to if it's already activated with a physical sim?

I don’t like the idea of having my service tied to a SIM card if it doesn’t HAVE to be. I don’t like having a physical “part” that can be ejected and tampered with by someone. Yes, yes I know...No one can do anything with someone else’s SIM card, blah blah blah. If I have a device that CAN work without these goofy little chips, I want to use it that way.

Do you have an answer to my original question?
