Force Buyout

I bought an iPad and made a down payment of $129.99 and had balance owed of $600.00. I wanted to paid it off after a week of getting the iPad and cancel the data plan on it. Since it was still in the 14 day return window I had go into the store a pay it for it outright and I couldn't do it online until the 14 day return window was closed. At the Store they had trouble getting the Verizon System to let me pay it off. I was told it would be on my next bill. I got my bill and still no force buyout on my bill. I called Verizon they it will take a while for the force buyout to show up on a bill. They also the wrong amount might show on what I own on it. I still have the iPad and I was to pay for it and I dont want a $600 buyout hanging over my head .

Tried to do this with my old LG V30 and no one ever processed this simple request so I gave up.

For a tablet, I don't know why you would spend the extra for one with cellular when you didn't plan to have it on a line. Would have been cheaper buying the Wifi only version elsewhere.

My parents are in Ohio and they do not have internet at the house. So when I there I needed something that has internet.

Couldn't you have used your phone's hotspot feature if your plan already has that feature included and connected a Wi-Fi tablet to the phone's hotspot?

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

The free phone is only free with monthly credits if you continue to pay for every installment payment. This information would’ve been provided for you when you made your original purchase.

The installments are charged every month on your bill, and a corresponding credit is also placed on the bill. If it anytime you pay off the phone, upgrade the phone, or cancel service the remaining installments are charged and any credits are void.

If you go to the sales page and look up the phone deals that are currently offered to new customers you can see the fine print of the offer. This is pretty much universal, no carrier is going to give you a free phone without there being a long-term installment and credit agreement.

if you log into your online account and take a look at the previous bills that showed the installment payment for your other phone, it should also show the corresponding credit.

Darsims, it is important to have clear details regarding your account. Devices that are free are part of promotions. These promotions do typically require a device payment to be active to receive the bill credits to cover the cost of the phone. If you choose to upgrade the phone early, you would need to pay off the remaining balance of the device as the bill credits span between 24 to 30 months.
