I used the defective device method for a phone and I got hit with a 299.99 charge of broken glass phone when it wasn't broken, I feel your pain. If I knew it'd be such a hassle and false charge filled I wouldn't of used the method. Best of luck!

The iPad Air that replaced my NON-WORKING iPad 2 works just fine. The broken one was sent back to Verizon, with the assurance it would've taken off my equipment list and the billing corrected by the next cycle. Did not happen ! id I mention I have been a loyal Verizon customer for at least 12 years?

SInce it is an insurance replacement (and great score getting Air 2 for an iPad 2!), you are getting screwed.  The person who activated the Air 2 is who started the screw process.  Even with a different SIM, it can be activated on the old phone number, which is what needed to be done. 

WHat hat happens if you switch the device online to the iPad 2 line, then cancel the now empty and formerly Air 2 line?
