I paid my last month bill 2 days before the due date.  Then i decide to check my account to see if my usage reset, but it didnt it took 2 - 3 days for the usage to restart after being paid 2-3 days prior and i was still using minutes for the previous month and went over a lousy 10 mins and im gettting charged 50.00$ for using 10 extra mins... Even during these few days i tried to upgrade from 1400 to 2000 mins so i wont be charged to overage charge but my verizon wouldnt let me do it ... Why? Shouldnt i be able to upgrade my minutes even when im close to be over to avoid a overage charge ...

I think you are getting mixed up with "due date" for the bill and the "closing date" of your billing cycle. They are not the same thing.

For 10 minutes of overage, you should be paying the overage fee on the 1400 minute plan of $0.40/minute. With 10 minutes of overage, you should have an overage charge of $4.00(+taxes). If you were charged $50, you either have considerably more than 10 minutes of overage, or there are other charges to make your bill higher.

Yes, you should be able to change your minute plan at any time. If you are increasing it to make sure you are not going to incur overage charges, make sure you backdate it to the beginning of your current "billing cycle". When you do this, though, you will have an additional charge for your current month of $10 because you had already paid for the 1400 minute plan for the current month. You will be credited for the 1400 minute plan and billed for the 2000 minute plan which is $10 higher. So your bill would be $20 higher, $10 for the 2000 minute plan for the "current billing cycle" and $10 for the next billing cycle since Verizon bills a month in advance.

You can't change it after the new minutes are givin. If your bills due on the 3rd the new minutes are givin on the 9th it is to late to fix it after the 8th and deffinantly when the bill is out unless you were charged for calls that shouldn't cost minutes like if tech support calls you back. Look through the details of the bill to see what's going then complain. Do your research because $50 isent 10 min.
