A Weird Situation with iPhones

I have an odd situation. I recently just cancelled my service with AT&T and ported over my numbers to Verizon Wireless. When I had AT&T, my account had two iPhones; an iPhone 4 and an iPhone 4S. I called AT&T to make sure my account was cancelled, and when speaking with the AT&T rep (which never ends well) I was reassured that I would be able to use my iPhones on my new Verizon plan. To get started, I ordered two free phones from Target.com (a DROID Incredible 2 and an LG Lucid) because I planned to use my iPhones and did not want to pay for a phone I wasn't planing on using. Turns out, AT&T misinformed me, and I can't use my iPhones on Verizon due to some service issue. We really don't like the phones we have now, and had noticed that in stores, Target is offering 149.99 for an iPhone 4S and 49.99 for an iPhone 4 starting tomorrow. Is it possible to go to Target, activate two additional lines on my account with new iPhones, transfer the service to my current lines, then cancel the new lines I just activated? If not, what can be done so that I can use an iPhone with Verizon without paying outright for a new phone? I just started my service with Verizon 4 days ago. Any help is appreciated.

You need to return the phones you already ordered for Verizon Wireless service first before you can purchase/exchange for iphones compatible with the Verizon Wireless network.

The AT&T iphones are GSM only network phones. The Verizon Wireless network uses CDMA for the voice network and isn't compatible with the GSM phones.

I didn't order the phone through Verizon, I purchased them through a third party retailer on Target.com. I'm glad someone had some right answers, because I didn't know that about the iPhones and the AT&T rep swore up and down there would  be no problem. Basically, what I want to do is go into target tomorrow, add two more lines to my account, with two new numbers and two new iPhones, then cancel the phones i have now, which are the original lines I activated. No transferring anything. Canceling the phones I have now means I need to ship them back to the third party retailer, which is what I plan to do, I'm just worried Verizon will charge me extra in some weird way.

If you send the devices back within 14 days your contract can be cancelled, outside of 14 days your contract is valid. You have to return it to the third party Verizon cannot charge you anything, not even restocking because your not returning it to them.

You are returning it to the third party so if they have a restocking fee, that's between the retailer and you.

You will be charged either way.  You have the restocking fee.  An ETF if you don't return the phones within the return period.  If you were posting over your numbers to the original lines, you will lose those numbers as well.

Not if she bought them at target. There is no restockkng fee at target or Walmart. She can exchange the phone and get iPhones. She needs to return them to target. She can go to the store. I think target has a 30 day policy.

I did! I bought them through Target.com. Does that mean I can bring them in store and exchange them? that would be amazing!
