You do it just wont show on your lock screen until you hit your home button. This is to save your battery life. I dont like it, I am so ready to switch to a Windows phone when the new ones come out.
What is happening is that some incoming emails are alerted on the locked screen and others are not. I have 3 email accounts and I have all three marked “view in lock screen”.
When I hit the home button I get my home screen and then I go to “mail” and then I get the email. I am interested in seeing what was being sent without having to open up the screen.
Thanks for your comments.

Unless your jailbreak it your out of look. It will vibrate and sound that you have an alert but wont ever turn your screen on to show you that you have one. It has always been this way, and this is why iphones suck. If you are looking for a phone to do that get an Android or Win. MPO is Win phone, had to many issues with Android to ever go back This is the reason for the iphone I have now.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.
There is one notification called badges and it will show on the lock screen. Even on android some font show a light or message until you press power button. That's for people that think android is all that and a bag of chips. Androids lately like the taser saved battery life by not haveing that.
