Since my phone isn't due for an upgrade for a few more months, I'd have to pay the retail price for the iPhone from Verizon. Does anyone know if ordering it from Apple with Verizon as the carrier would be cheaper? Checking on there, it would be about $170 total for everything I want.

It wouldn't. The only unlocked ones would be for atat. U can buy one without contract w/ Verizon but it won't be fully unlocked. $649 or something like that. What does it mean unlocked compared to no contract. Unlocked u can use on any gsm? So If u like Verizon u can't get an unlocked one but u can get one without contract? If u were a new customer u would need credit approval?

Shouldn't make a difference as long as it's programmed for verizon's network. 170 sounds too low for a fresh iphone though. You sure that isn't a new line price?

Well, that's without the data package/monthly fee. I don't want to pay the $650 to upgrade it now and when I did the chat thing with a Verizon consultant, she didn't know if it would be the Verizon price to order it from Apple without actually using my upgrade.
