My dad has AT&T and got the new iphone 5. He has no use for it so i want it but i have verizon. is it possible to put his old iphone on my verizon plan?

Actually though, if you get a new iPhone 5 on Verizon, you WILL be able to use it on AT&T
Verizon has verified that their iPhone 5 is AT&T/T-Mobile connectable (i.e. not carrier-locked). At least in HSPA mode, not for LTE though.
