I have an iPhone 4 with Verizon's unlimited data plan. I just bought an iPad. It only has WiFi capability, and I wanted to see if I can make my iPhone a hotspot and enable my iPad to get online through it, such as when I'm on the road - *without* paying any extra fees? Am I going to pay twice for the same unlimited data?
You will have to pay for the hotspot.
You will not pay twice for the same unlimited data. All of the data "used" by your iPhone is still included under your unlimited data plan. Data "used" by other devices is not included under your unlimited data plan.
You can add the mobile hotspot feature to your account throught your MyVerizon account online. It will be $20 for 2 GB additional and on top of your unlimited smartphone data plan. The unlimited smartphone data plan handles only the data for the smartphone and not the data transferred through the mobile hotspot.
I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.
