Contact losing name just leaving number...why?

All of my favorite contacts keep losing the names attached to them.  Now I just have the number and I am clueless as to who they are with just the number.  Help!

double tap your iphone button and close out msging, then do a *228 option 1

Its like some glitch with the iphone 4s
