Is there an online option to transfer contacts from old phone (different carrier) to new phone?

Hello Lipp24783, that is an excellent question! I'm sorry to say that there isn't an online option like Backup Assistant to move contacts from one carrier to the next. An SD memory card that is compatible with your old phone and new phone will help bring contacts over. You also may be able to save to contacts to a Gmail account from the old phone and use the same account to import contacts to new phone. Keep us posted!
