Data Connectivity Issue

I'm having an issue with one of the phones for our executives. Their iPhone 4 can make and receive calls, but when trying to connect with 3G will give an error about not being registered to a data network. The APN settings aren't listed under Settings anywhere.

So far we're tried the following to make it work:

Reset network settings.

Reset phone to factory settings.

Restore the OS.

Create a custom profile from unlockit.co.nz

We've even tried going to a Verizon store, but were told that nothing was wrong with the phone. I think it was more a lazy employee at this point to be truthful. I'm not sure if it would be a connectivity issue with a setting on the other end or what at this point. We really need to get this phone up and running because we have a big conference to go to coming up and he needs his phone to have data at all times.

It sounds like the programming isn't complete or there is an error somewhere. On the iPhone 4 you can dial *228, option 1 to reprogram the phone to the Verizon Wireless network. Since the phone is a CDMA 3G only smartphone, it isn't capable of connecting to data at the same time as a phone call.

Unfortunately that didn't do anything. The same error keeps popping up.

Have you called customer service and talked to their tech support?

We did try, but they just told us there was nothing wrong with the phone and ended the conversation. So far it's been a support nightmare.. Being in charge of the help desk here it really does put a damper on me doing my job in this case.

That was in the OP. The data doesn't work. They won't do more than look and see it claims it has a 3G connection and the phone support team won't check into it claiming there's nothing wrong on their end.

This has been tried in multiple places and states.. and every other one of us with Verizon at the office get a data connection fine. It even has the icon for having a 3G connection in the status bar. Still have it just simply say "Could not activate cellular data network" when you try to use the 3G. This was around the time some changes were being made on the account apparently so I'm not sure if some of the MEID information got altered on the other end somehow. I just need an answer because he's leaving the state again by the end of the week..

and people wonder why I stick to Android phones <_<

Good afternoon L4M3N7. I am sorry to hear about your executives iPhone 4 not connecting to data. I know it is important to stay connected at all times while away from the office at conferences and I want to take a further look into this for you. I first want to apologize for the experience you had at the store. Obviously there is an issue if the phone is not connecting to the 3G network.

Thanks for providing me with the steps you have already tried. I appreciate you being proactive and I would hate to make you do a step for a second time. How long has this been going on for? Has it been doing this consistently? Are you trying to access the web while on the phone? On the iPhone you are not able to talk and surf the web at the same time.

Are any other iPhone's on your account having the same issue?

Also please make sure that Wi-Fi is turned off and that you are connected to mobile data. Please visit http://vz.to/smngb6 to view the steps on how to enable mobile data.

Try dialing *228 and when the voice prompts you to please choose option 1. This will program the device and make sure that it is connecting to our cell towers like it should.

Please advise if these steps work or if you are still having issues. I look forward to your reply.
