I am new to the Iphone thing, did the IOS6 upgrade. I have a 4S Iphone. My daughter showed me on hers how she can track her husband when he is overseas' and I would like to have that option for my youngest daughter's phone. How does it work?
Also, if I would like to have my text messages read to me, how do I do that on the 4S? Thanks, Rita
The app is called find your iPhone. If your daughters phone has the location services and find your iPhone you can track it on your phone if you have find your iphone app in itunes. if you all have the same user apple Id. also you can track it on icloud.com. I don't think it has text read back except in accessibility.
You can use Siri to reply to text and send text but I'm not sure if it reads one back to you.
If you use the magnifying glass on this forum you can search iOS 6 and it will bring up a chat with a diagram of what iOS 6 adds to each version of the iPhone iPads.

As mentioned, if "Track My iPhone" is enabled and the phone is not powered off you can use that. Visit the Apple website for more info on that feature. BUT, if your daughter knows that what you are doing and wants to stop you from knowing where she is at times she can simply go into settings and turn off the feature. You could activate restrictions with a password she doesn't know BUT if she can figure out the password she could again go in and turn off location services. Another option you have is to subscribe to the family locator feature with VZW. It's not free (not sure the monthly cost but I believe it may be $9.99/month) but it's something she couldn't turn off or manipulate if she wanted to.
As far as text messages...as mentioned, Siri will read your new messages to you (at least I think she still does on iOS 6. I don't have a new message waiting for me to check right now) but otherwise you can't get her to read old ones and it's not automatic. There may be an app available to do that for you but you would have to check or do an internet search to see if there are any available.
