Is anyone else having the same issue. Our new Iphone's are not performing as anticipated. My wife's Iphone performs worse than mine, but both are dropping calls. She's really getting angry and we are about to take the phones back. Does anyone have any advice.....

most people are reporting that they are fine. however, i've already seen a numbers of videos posted that illustrate the signal going up and down based on the way the user was holding it. i've also seen users (on this forum) reporting that they got a bumper case and improved their reception. overall, it appears that the antenna issue is not an issue for most....but it does appear to still be a problem (although NOTHING like the at&t iphone). do some testing. hold it with your other hand in the same fashion...hold it with just your thumb and one finger, etc. play around with how you hold it (in the exact same area of course) and see if your bars jump up and down. if so, then i would return it or try to use a silicon or rubber case to see if that helps.

I also recommend that you update your PRL especially as your phone is new and probably came from elsewhere in the country. Dial *228 and choose option 2 to update your roaming capabilities.

Are you dropping these calls while using the phone on speakerphone or using a headset? The other issue that people had with iPhones was that the proximity sensor was not working. The call terminates because their cheek hit the end call button and the user was unaware. Try using the phone in the same place with a headset to see if your calls can be completed.
If you are near an Apple store, make a Genius Bar appointment to have them look at the phone. They can determine if the phone dropped the calls due to the network or if all calls were terminated by the user. If you really like your iPhones, I want you to be able to keep them. But, it will take some troubleshooting on your end to find and then fix the problems. The techs at the Genius Bar are really helpful in determining what is causing any issues with your phones and will do what they can to fix it.

So I got my iphone a few days ago with no case soon as I got home started dropping calls like crazy I was like {word filter avoidance}
,,,,, been with Verizon for 5 years with no issues at all.
So after doing some research I learned about this death grip issue and sure enough I could make my iphone go from 3 bars of 3g service to zero in 15-20 seconds depending how I held the iphone. So I decided to call Verizon hoping for a solution or at minimum a case.
Anyways I did get a free case but what really **bleep** me off is that the Verizon rep and her supervisor both acted like they had no idea what I was talking about and I was the first complaint they ever had and they never heard anything about this "death grip" and I was lying.... I mean come on stop faking Verizon and give the people who are willing to keep this iPhone a freee case.. I stillmight take mine back anyways
