Help with screen staying on

Every time I try to make a call my screen will go black and when i try to press the home button it will just blink were I cant select anything so its hard for me to use the dial pad when I have to. Any suggestions on how to keep my screen on while im on the phone?

Vlosaloty, I'll be happy to help figure this out so that's it's not difficult for you to use your phone. The iPhone has a proximity sensor that recognizes when your face or other object is against the screen. Do you have a case or anything covering the sensor (near the earpiece)? Try wiping the screen. Also reset the phone by pressing and holding the Power & Sleep/Wake buttons for 10 seconds until the Apple pops up.
