How can I turn my phone back on?

I plugged my phone into the wall charger and instantly my phone shut off.  I can not seem to get it turned back on.  Any ideas?

The battery might be dead it takes time to turn so you can confirm its charging.

@WesM80 - I would also try holding down both the Power and Home button simultaneously for about 10 seconds and see if this forces it to restart.
