Trying to figure out how a number like 0000034257 on my text messaging comes from on my bill. It doesn't show the number. Why?

34257 is Dick's Sporting Goods. Maybe you entered a sweepstakes with them or JOINed to get their sales specials.

In the past when i received a number like this on a text, a previous owner of the phone number had installed an application which received "push feeds" to a email/phone number combination.....since the email/phone number combination could not
be reconciled I would occasionally receive a "weird text message from some unknown number"
i would call verizon and let them know whats happening and see if they can share a little more information

Hello baseball1212,
Sorry for any confusion with your bill and text messaging charges! I would like to help, and explain the usage & charges.
First, I'd like to thank the other Community members for the great feedback & suggestions! As budone has already advised, the number you see in your text details, 0000034257, is a premium message (short code) number from Dick's Sporting Goods. It's an alert message service you were opted in to receive discounts and promotional alerts. You can opt out of the service/program by texting the word STOP, QUIT, CANCEL, UNSUBSCRIBE or END (in all Cap's) to the number (34257). You should then receive a message back from the service stating you have unsubscribed from their alert program. I do not show a cost associated with the program, only standard messaging charges according to your text plan.
I'd also like to provide you a link with information about preventing premium messaging.
I hope I have answered your questions, and have addressed your concerns.
Thanks,
AnthonyTa_VZW
