You updated it. You can't blame Verizon its apples update they would say. I would say if its that bad get it replaced and get it without the update. It can't be as bad as when the thunderbolt got its first update ever rebooting all the time. Even then you couldn't get out of the contract. If you dont like ios6 then you won't like the iPhone 5.
Thanks. However, the agreement with Verizon does say I own this thing at a discount if I pay for 2 years of service AND the system operates with it. Own is a strong word! I don't remember anything in the terms which said it would be impossible to revert back to an earlier IOS. Nor do I believe it's impossible. Though being incredibly angry, I asked.
This update degraded the value of this phone for me. I've contacted Apple about reverting IOS6 back to IOS5 but don't have a response yet. Actually Apple shoved me over to the Verizon site. As for IPhone5. My experience since last week has convinced me NOT to get an IPHONE 5. Verizon is the company I pay every month and whom I've had as a carrier for nearly a decade. I suspect I'll know shortly about how I feel about staying with Verizon.
No matter what Version of the iPhone you buy or what carrier. Apple set the terms on their software. There is a way to revert down, but you will need Apples SDK and you will also need to find the instructions on how to do it. It can't be posted here. Keep in mind your baseband is fixed to the newer version.
Carriers have NOTHING to do with what Apple does with their software, and upgrade path.
Really! You gave me some information for getting there.
I tried Apple for help and they redirected me to Verizon for help with reverting the IOS from 6 to 5. Since Apple does redirect to Verizon for software issues, there's an implied contract which Verizon should be concerned about.
The Genius lied to you. They probably directed you to Verizon for no reason. Every version of iPhone and even the iPod Touch all have to do this to revert to a lower version and must be done this way BEFORE Apple locks out the previous versions SHSH tags or else you can't revert.
Complain to Verizon say your phone is really messed up and they will replace it but next time be more carefull about what you download. It's not there fault you did it. Apple probably put you to Verizon because they don't wanna hear it and Verizon will say go to apple. With any smartphone it is knowledge that once you put an update on you aren't suppose to go back. Android or iPhone.
Tell us what's wrong with it. iOS 6 is fine for me somewhat. Apps will get better.
