Verizon has a service called usage controls which blocks 20 numbers that don't expire. it also allows text addresses.

however on the My Verizon web site http://www.verizonwireless.com then sign up for My Verizon or log in if you had done so previously.

There is a section to block calls and txt messages for up to 5 numbers for free for 90 days. after that time you have to put them in again.

Never pay verizon for the block service its just another ploy to get more money from you.

at that same place there are usage controls for Vtext which allows you to block 15 text addresses or you can block whole domains. yoh also have options not to receive texts fro the web or through email. check off those boxes and then click apply or OK and they stay active forever.
