Hello pootieq, iCloud is an awesome feature for backing up your phone info. Have you checked your iCloud settings to ensure the Backup option for contacts is enabled http://vz.to/1E1kigx? You can also check the iCloud page via browser to review your backed up phone content at www.apple.com/icloud.

Do you by any chance have your contacts on your computer? If so you can sync them via iCloud.com
