I just got an iphone 4S and in two days it used 1GB of data. I checked data roaming and it was turned off. What happened to Verizons quote that "95% of our users use less than 2GB of data a month"? I am really glad that I checked it now instead of at the end of the month. I do not understand what happened. Does anyone have any ideas?

When verizon uses that quote they are counting ALL their users, like people with phones from 2006 and have data blocked, the number is slightly off
if you're in your 20s chances are you will use at least 5gig a month without even trying

Heh...join the club! I use about 1-3GBs/day. These things happen as you become familiar with the device.

Not correct. Turn off cellular data on your device to be absolutely certain you are not being data scammed.
Cell phones can and do swap back and forth between wifi and cellular data.
Good Luck
