This question is not phone related, it is service related. Since I could not find the appropriate forum, this was my only choice.

I have traveled from the USA to the UK and had my handbag, including my iPhone 4S stolen in London Heathrow. The phone is approximately 1 month old. It is not insured since the woman in Radio-Shack convinced me to take AppleCare instead of Verizon coverage, since AppleCare was specialized and covered 'everything. ...turns out, it covers everything but acts of God and theft.

So.... I am stuck 3,000+ miles away from home with with a missing phone, no insurance and a brand new 2yr contract!!

anyway.... my husband went into Verizon to explain the situation and to let them know that 'Find My Phone' is installed and turned on... and to ask if any activity showed up on the phone. They told him that it would take 2 weeks to find out since it depended on their partner company in the UK. I want to know what that partner company is so I can find out for myself. I have the IMEI # and a police report # so, if I have the partner company name, I can find out for myself and not have to wait the 2 weeks...

Will someone please tell me what the partner company in the UK is?

thanks so much!

I don't know but you can go to iCloud.com and track it.

Hello ThatCatGirl!

I'm so sorry to hear about your phone and your handbag! I would be a mess if that happened to me overseas! gina7239 is correct, that you can track the phone on iCloud.com. The problem is, that the phone needs to be turned on and have a data connection in order to locate the device. Have you navigated to the iCloud website and gone to the Find My Phone portion? If you are unable to find the phone, we have Certified Pre-Owned phones for purchase. I will include a link with the devices available. You can also purchase a phone from another source as long as it is a Verizon Wireless phone, is not on a lost stolen list, or active on another account. If you would like to purchase a Certified Pre-Owned device you can contact customer service at 1-800-922-0204, send me a DM, or contact us via Twitter @VZWSupport.

Hello ThatCatGirl,

Sorry to hear about your handbag and your iPhone 4S. May I ask were you able to safely contact your friends and family yet? You safety is a TOP priority and we want to make sure that you are ok. I have a few questions to ask to help expedite the investigation. May I ask did you have your Verizon Wireless sim card activated and installed in the iPhone 4S? If so then that's great! With the sim card activated then the device will pick up the GSM signal on while in Europe and can be tracked using Find my iPhone or iCloud, as gina7239 suggested. Assuming that you know your Apple ID and password, here is the link to track your device!

iCloud: https://www.icloud.com/

Find my iPhone: http://bit.ly/bGaiRS

As far as our European roaming partner, I'm not sure as to who owns the wireless network that is used in the UK. I can advise that our partner company is Vodafone. If you are still in London then I would suggest calling our global support team for advanced assistance. The number is 908-599-4899. Please keep us updated as you get more information about your handbag and your iPhone...

thank you so much for the replies.

Yes, I am with family now. I arrived on the 13th and this happened while I was making a connection from London to Manchester. I cannot tell you how heartbroken I am at the loss of the handbag and it's contents. Not only for the handbags sentimental value, but it has been a nightmare trying to get bank and credit cards reported and replaced while 3,000 miles from home. As for my phone - it is not insured. When in Radio Shack, I asked about insurance and was informed that I was best off taking Applecare since they 'covered everything'. Well, they cover nothing. I am out a phone that is only a few weeks old with a brand new 2yr contract and have just lost any money that I could possibly use to replace it with a new one. More than you care to know, I am sure....

Anyway... I have iCloud and 'find my phone' activated since before I got the phone. The same day it was stolen, I sent a message to the phone from iCloud asking anyone who would be kind enough to text or call numbers here in the UK or in the USA. I am also to be alerted if the phone is activated.

I am in possession of the serial number, the IMEI number, both of which I have provided to the police in the UK in the hope of getting it back. If you know of any other actions I can take to locate my phone, I would be grateful to hear them.

And thanks again for the responses. Helpfulness and kindness such as this is why I have been with VW since 1994 BAM days.

I responded to KatieH above. thank you for your reply, too.

Do you think contacting Vodaphone here in the UK will be of any use?

thanks.

Vzw has lost insurance so the person who td you your better of with AppleCare . I would add a line and get a new one then put insurance on it immediately. Then put a cheap phone on the other line after you them you lost it do it's put on a list that cant be used.

Vzw has lost insurance so the person who told you your better of with AppleCare .I love AppleCare except for lost phones. AppleCare has good for if you break your phone. $50 duductable. Need to call apple after 90 days it's included. And extended warrenty. Vzw insurance includes lost and damage as well as extended warrenty but deductable is $160 to $190 but extended warrenty no duductable. I like both for all reasons. Each have differences. I would add a line and get a new one then put insurance on it immediately. Then put a cheap phone on the other line after you  them you lost it do it's put on a list that cant be used.

Hi Gina7239 - I'm not exactly sure what you are saying. Do you mean I can add another line, get an iPhone for it, then get a cheap phone for my line, swap the phones and cancel the second line? Will that work? Won't I also need a 2yr contract with the new line?   thanks for your reply.

Yes you can add a line to get your new iPhone anyone you want.

Then you put a cheap phone on one of the lines.

On your new iPhone put insurance on right away it $9.99 a month. It includes if you lose your phone water damage etc but deductable is $160 or $199 or need an extended warrenty so you don't have to upgrade for awhile.

Buy apple care to just in case you need to call them a lot and if you break your phone deductable is less. $50 deductable. You have 30 days to put it on. If you want the cheaper AppleCare you have a year which doesent include damage.
