Lost signal in house

I have  been a customer with Verizon for quite a while now and over the course of the last year I have steadily lost signal in my house and can no longer make or receive calls on a consistent basis.  I can usually hear the other person but they cannot hear me.  I have updated the roaming on my phone as well as gone through the reprograming portion of *228.  I have also tried soft and hard resets on my IPhone 4S.  Is there anything else that can be done to try to help my situation?

The same thing has happened to me, and those were the solutions Verizon offered to me.. Along with buying their 250 dollar network extender.

Due to radio frequency no cell carrier reliably covers any indoor building or even cars

If you have high speed Internet you can purchase a femtocell device like the network extender and your Internet carriers your voice traffic, like voice over ip

Why should I have to buy a network extender? I already spent 200 bucks on the phone that is barely a year old, when I got it it worked inside fine.

If you want to use your phone inside you will get the network extender, if you don't you won't....

Read our tos...signal inside is not covered. Signals change all the time...

I think commonsense101 means the "Customer Agreement" and the following passage in particular.

"Where and How Does Verizon Wireless Service Work?

Wireless devices use radio transmissions, so unfortunately you can't get Service if your device isn't in range of a transmission signal. And please be aware that even within your Coverage Area, many things can affect the availability and quality of your Service, including network capacity, your device, terrain, buildings, foliage and weather."

I use an Iphone 4s with a Samsung network extender, This morning the SYS  and GPS lights are red and re-setting hasn't helped. Unfortunately I can get no service unless I go outside (in 40 degrees?). I surely hope that this will clear up soon and am more than a little disappointed with my ability to get some help from Verizon. Was even advised to call by phone AFTER I told them I had no service. What with? Smoke signals?

A neighbor's phone, a friend's phone, a land line, a pay phone, etc...

Edit: Or even go to an area where you do not need the extender to get a signal.

I have the exact same problem.  I had great service with Verizon for a couple of years.  All of a sudden my signal strength went down from 3-4 bars to 0-1.  I can't convince tech support that SOMETHING HAS CHANGED.  They finally sent me a network extender and it helps (when it works).  It loses the GPS signal frequently and I have to run the antenna out into the yard to lock it back in.  PITA.  I have an IPhone 4, my wife an basic flip and my son has a 4S - none of them work reliably without the network extender.
