Of course something changed, the earth is constantly moving.. Leases expire, sites get moved, people move into the area ..maybe it is at capacity etc...if it doesn't work for you the only solution there is would be to find one that does

Ever since I moved into my new house 1 1/2 years ago I have not been able to call/receive calls and texts. I have a Samsung Gallaxy 4S and at most have 1 bar.  I have to go out to my driveway to do call or text which is ridiculous. I have no signal in my backyard so the front yard is my only option. I called to inquire about a network extender but I cannot pay $300 for one right now and I believe I shouldn't have to when I'm already paying Verizon for their service. I ended up having to purchase a ground line and phone in case of emergencies. I will NOT be renewing when my contract is up. I've been with them for 12 years and was disappointed that they were not more willing to help.

It seems if cellular service was such a necessity in your new house, you should have confirmed you had it before moving.

Cellular service is NOT guaranteed in any location as a result of towers not close enough, surrounding buildings/trees/obstructions, weather, etc... If you need to have service at a specific location, a landline is the way to go. Going with another provider is not going to change this fact.

I was not going to base the purchase of my house off of a phone service. My boyfriend has AT&T and has perfect service in my house. That is who I will be switching to when my contract is up. Oh yea, T-Mobile works great in my house too!

It seems you should be with one of those other providers then.

Cellular providers do not construct new towers every time someone moves to a location without service. If that were the case, there would be NO dead spots. They offered you a solution which you felt was not in your best interest. Nothing wrong with that.

You should ALWAYS go with the provider which best suits your needs.

I fail to agree with people feeling they have been wronged when Verizon won't guarantee service at a specific location, especially when Verizon offers a workaround like the Network Extender.

I agree, I will be with one of those providers when my contract is up. However, the point I was making was I that Verizon did not do anything to help my situation except offer a $300 extender or pay more to get out of my contract so I am stuck. I certainly did not expect them to build a tower so I could get better service, only stupid people would think that. I live in a residential neighborhood so it's not like I live in the middle of now where. I know they don't guarantee service in a building but I was told they do outside of the house. AT&T offers free extenders to those who don't get good service either outside or in a building. The same service would have been greatly appreciated from Verizon.

Verizon DOES NOT guarantee service "outside of the house". No cellular provider does. All providers have areas without service, even in areas where their service maps show 100% service. It is the nature of the cellular signal. It can be blocked by obstacles, such as foliage, buildings, weather, topography of the surrounding area, etc...

I think you will also find just as many people on the AT&T forums with complaints about service reception who have not been able to acquire a "free" network extender.

Regardless, good luck with your new provider.

Hmmmm the person in tech services yesterday told me they did guarantee service outside but since I could get a signal in my front yard but not my back yard I did not qualify for a free network extender. Strange....

I assume you work for Verizon?
