Hi - I have an Iphone 4S 32 Gig and I'm oversees using a local sim. I have lost my verizon sim and for some reason remember hearing I don't actually need one with the verizon phone in America. Is that correct? When I get back to America, will my phone work without the original verizon sim or do I need to go and get a new one?
thanks,
Julie

Great question crazylike9! Since the iPhone 4S is a 3G device, a sim is not needed to activate on the Verizon network. Once you return to the United States, you simply will remove the local sim then activate the iPhone 4S back to the network by calling *228 http://vz.to/1bmULfV .

The Sim allows you to access the verizon network. You will need to go to a verizon corporate store and get a new one.
Good Luck

The SIM card in an iPhone 4S is just for international use.

My understanding is I need to remove it to use a local providers network. The phone its self is usable globally but not usable for service like through Sprint but I could be wrong in the assumption the Sim card is not necessary for verizon service.
As always thanks for the information.
