You still have an Alltel plan, or an old plan from another provider VZW has purchased?

We were Alltel customers and were brought over but Im certain all the Alltel plans are gone and it wouldnt explain it showing up on one iPhone and not the other.

When I first got my phone, I never had the carrier listed either, though the other phone in my house purchased at the same time did. I previously had an Alltel plan and the other phone had a Verizon plan from day one ... not sure if that's why. Anyway, mine started showing Verizon Wireless after a software update.

So I just have to wait for the next update to come down the pipe before I can test this theory. Seems logical.

If you do not see VERIZON you still are on an Alltel plan. Reason is if you had a VZW PRL, you would see the icon, but since you have an Alltel PRL, you will not see it.

So even though I updated the PRL with the Verizon network it wont pick up that its no longer on Alltel?

You can *228 all day long, if on an Alltel plan (What is the name of your plan, it can be seen on the opening screen of your online account) it will still be an Alltel PRL. Biggest difference, in the USVI Alltel plans are not charged a roaming fee, but in Alaska you are.
On VZW PRL's the opposite is true. Plus, VZW has to honor the roaming agreements Alltel had in place, I believe for 10 years.
Also what is the PRL number on your device?

Not sure on an iPhone, but droids will show the network as Unknown with a billing plan other than a VZW plan
