Ordered 16gb White Iphone 4s yesterday around 11 a.m?

Hi There!

So I ordered the phone yesterday and i forgot to ask them when it would ship. Its shipping to my house and i got an email with the order number and what not. 

Also, 

I've never activated a phone so how do i do that? or will it already be activated?

Depending on the model they are running about a week.to activate.it just turn on the phone and follow the steps on the screen.you will have to create a Google account but it will walk you thru it.the OS5 is amazing .Enjoy.

Since when must one create a Google account to activate and use an iPhone (other than just setting up an existing Gmail account)?

I've never had to interact my iPhone with Google to activate it and set it up. I've set up my Gmail account on it, which can be done with either the Google app or through MS Exchange, but none of that was mandatory.

Might you be thinking of Android phones, where you do indeed have to use a Google account with the phone?

You do not have to create or even have a Google account to activate an iPhone. As far as activation, you will receive a "Getting Started" guide with your iPhone that will walk you through the  steps for activating your device. As far as when your device will ship, no one on here can actually answer that for you accurately as it will depend on the back order of the devices. You can try contacting where ever you placed your order for more information (if any is available at this time), but your best bet is to keep an eye out for an email with tracking info or keep checking the billing method used to see when it has been charged. That will generally let you know that the device is in the shipping process and should arrive soon after.

The "google account" is a misconception. 

When you plugin your iPhone for the very first time it pops up a box asking if you'd like to sync with a Google account.  This is primarily for people who use Google Contact storage and are migrating from another phone (Android for example).  If you have a google account you already sync to put in the details.  Otherwise skip that step.

I, personally, sync everything to my Gmail account so no matter what device I use I can sync my contact data so it's nice that they include that "option" but it's not necessary.
