Hello Everyone,  (need to vent some anger here)

 

I must say I am switching from AT&T to Verizon and it has been a very painful process and AT&T is looking genious right now.  I have called Verizon and although they "Can hear me now" they arent able to resolve my problem - WHICH IS ACTUALLY THEIR SCREW UP NOT MINE!!!!!!!   Looking for some help here with people who have the same situation as me and how it was resolved.

 

Here are the details:

 

1.  Waited up like every other person to order the phone at 3AM on 02/09/11 so that I could be guaranteed the Iphone 4 and not have to wait in line at a local store etc.

2.  Order confirmed and processed.  However, they did charge credit card and shipped out on Friday 02/11/11 - A DAY AFTER ACTUAL RELEASE DATE.  If i knew that i wouldnt have my phone at actual launch date then I would have waited on the line at a local store and be guaranteed at least a phone.

3.  Received my Iphone 4 TODAY - 02/14/11.

4.  Tried to activate phone - GUESS WHAT??????????  The dummy packing the box a the Verizon distribution center put the wrong Iphone 4 16GB phone in the box that came to me.  What do I mean by wrong?  The MEID on the phone and on the box matched - BUT THAT PHONE DIDNT MATCH THE ONE THAT Verizon put on my account!!!!!!!!!!!!  I cannot activate my phone and I have already been charged for something that I cannot use.

5.  Verizon is telling me that the only thing they can do is have me return my phone back to them and THEN BE PUT BACK AT THE END OF THE LIST TO GET ANOTHER IPHONE!!!!!!!!  What ????  I have to go to the end of the line when I was one of the dumb people to order the phone at 3AM and due to some minimum wage illiterate packing the wrong thing in the box - I have to suffer!!!!

 

I know I am being rude here - but this is so frustrating and this cannot go well as having good customer service?

 

Anyone that had this problem - is there any other way to solve this?  I think Verizon knows they messed up this entire process and rather than changing the MEID's on the accounts - they want them all back and have people re-wait on the end of the long list of people who are to get Iphones.

 

If they tell me they cannot resolve this - THEN I AM STAYING WITH AT&T.  I dont care.  This is ridiculous.

I went to an actual corporate store not just an authorized retailer.

 

I made sure of it and they had at least 20 on hand and available in the store.  Again, the verizon representative from wherever they are was on the phone and was speaking with the manager of the actual corporate store and did not resolve the issue.  The store manager stated I cannot do anything if the phone's MEID received does not match MEID what was placed on the account - and told me that I had to return it to fullfillment and have them take care of the issue.  (when in fact whoever packed the box at Verizon put the wrong phone with MEID in my box.  Again, the MEID on the phone and the box are the same - but the MEID that Verizon assigned to my account is not the same that I received and Verizon refuses to change it in their syste thus preventing activation)

 

Way to go Verizon - great customer service here for a customer thats trying to switch over from AT&T.  If this happened to a bunch of other AT&T customers then I can safely assume that we all would just stay with AT&T and not even bother with Verizon.  We arent even customers yet and the customer service and trying to assist the customer is horrible.  Imagine when we are locked in with a contract - what will happen!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can anyone who had this similar situation help?  My phone is not activated and I am porting my number over from AT&T so my number still works until activation is complete.

 

Anyone who had similar thing happen to them - please comment so I can get an idea on what to do here.

Maybe try going into the store to see if they will let you exchange the phone right there instead of doing it through the phone?  Maybe they will be of more help.

Tried that.  I actually had the Verizon rep on the phone call the local store who had inventory in stock and pretty much while I was on the phone said THEY WILL NOT DO ANYTHING and that the phone had to be returned to the Fullfillment Center.  They were not going to assist at all.

 

Thanks for the advice- but Verizon is failing to resolve this issue as you can see as even the local authorized dealer would not help.

Were you at an actual Verizon Corp store or an authorized reseller?

I suspect that I may be experiencing the same problem.  I ordered my iPhone4 from the Apple store on February 14th and received it February 16th.  I already have an ATT iPhone so I had iTunes already installed (latest updates included).  A message popped up on the phone after it had synced saying it was not activated and gave me a number to call.  That number was for Verizon who told me I needed to contact Apple to get a number for the phone.  Apple is telling me I get my number from Verizon. {word filter avoidance}
!  The techie at Apple had me restore the phone (which took nearly an hour) and I get the exact same result.

 

I've tried the *228 method without success--  it just gives me the same pop-up with the Verizon phone number.  How can I get this activated!?

 

I forgot to mention... when I first gave my MEID number to the rep at Apple, he told me it was already registered to someone else!  He apparently fixed that, though.  But I'm afraid I'm running into the same issue with Verizon.

My issue is a little different. The Iphone I received in the box was a 16gb what I ordered was a 32. I sent it back after talking to a Verizon rep. The only trouble now is I can not seem to get anyone to follow up on it. They have the phone and have records showing that they have it.  I asked where's my replacement for the wrong one they sent and no one can tell me. I was told by a friend who works for Verizon that the balls in Apples court. Well if this is the way apple is going to do business for Verizon they may want to rethink doing any other business with them. Oh and the rep from Verizon  that I talked to also told me that I wasn't the first one that this has happened too.
