Used iphone

I currently don't have a data plan.   I was wondering if i purchase a used iphone 4 and activate using my current plan will verizon force me to change plan?  I would like to have the iphone but just use the wi-fi feature.

If you activate any smartphone on Verizon's network, you are required to have a data plan.  If you just want to use the iPhone as an iPod, you can (but you can't make phone calls).
