Verizon charged over charges minimum 1 or 2 minutes per call . Why ?I talke to Customer service about the way of Verizon charge illegal like that, but he said that is machine charge. I need to know why ? I have 700 minutes per month. Each day I have about 20 calls - 30 calls, so it overchargd me up to 30 minutes per day. So just half a month, I used up all 700 minutes, but actually, just 400 is max. Please explain for me. I have log of call from my iPhone. I follow up this for 2 months already. Now, I need to understand why, so I can broad cast this to the public. Thanks

As is standard in wireless industry, calls are measured in 1 minute increments from the time you hit send or answer until your phone disconnects from the call, which may be a few seconds after you hit end.  Minutes are not rounded, so any part of a minute used will charge or the entire minute.  Therefore a call lasting 1 min 1 sec will be charged 2 minutes.  It is all in the contract you agreed to.

Get more minutes, switch to unlimited call plan, or use more text messages (what is said in 30 second phone call that can't be just sent as a text?)

This is not illegal, and standard goes back to the earliest days of telecommunications.

ALL these calls are to non Verizon customers? Calls to Verizon customers, calls made between 9 PM - 6 AM Mon-Fri and ALL calls made during the week-end don't even go against you're 700 minutes.

Anyways the round up to the nearest minute has been around for years an ALL carriers do this. So no need to "broadcast" this to the public. Also most people don't even use many minutes anyways. Won't matter anyways within a couple of years everyone will be on Share Everything and that has unlimited minutes and within 6-8 years the whole concept of "minutes" will be obsolete regardless

I don't know how you could surmise that. Whether or not tech support has a cellphone, they would ALSO have a landline with no reason to not use it.

You also have to remember that Verizon starts timing the call at the moment you hit send, not when your party ansers and you start talking.  And also like Brian said, they always round up to the next full minute.

So, for example, if they start timing the call when you hit the call button but you wait until your party answers and you start talking, you could time the call at 1min and 53secs, whereas Verizon could have the call at 2mins and 3secs.  Then with rounding up, you would be charged for a 3 minute call.

This is possibly why there is a discrepancy between your accounting of call times and Verizons.

Getting charged implies an extra cost. I'm sure it didn't cost extra for them to call you back. As I said if minutes are an issue either up your plan or move to Share Everything.

If tech calls you I ment it should be not charged mins. It just principle any Verizon call from a Verizon rep like *611 calling you back but since they use landlines it can happen. it shouldn't be deducted mins. In the past they would eventually credit me overages for me. My dad gets a corporate discount the everything isent always what it's cracked up to be. I understand it. I am grandfathered into what I have.
