I am eligible for an upgrade in early September. I'm seeing different dates for when the unlimited data for 29.99/m is going to end. One answer I saw was that it was ending in February of this year and it obviously has not. Does anyone know when the offer is going to end? I saw that AT&T offers a few different data packages but I have no idea which one is the best choice. Any help is appreciated.

Verizon CEO said summer so I'd guess July-August-ish. There's a rumor of this Thursday but it's just that, a rumor.

The price isnt going change If you have a 2 year contract right?
By rights, VZW can change the price of data and texting plans at any time as they are not part of your calling plan, but are add ons.
Now would they??? I highly doubt it.

Isn't it true that if Verizon changes anything within your contract, you have the legal right to cancel service without penalty? I believe this is true, and you really have to push it. So, if they do eliminate the unlimited data for existing contract holders, then you can cancel the service. However, where would you go? The grass is not always greener on the other side.

Most of the time you get to keep whatever you have until you change devices... I don't really see 3g going up, i think the focus will be on 4g tierd pricing

The unlimited data is not in your contract so they could drop it and it doesn't invalidate the contract at all.....it's a feature that we can add our drop at any time.the only thing that is for 2 years is the actual calling plan that you signed. You could activate an old phone now and drop your data if you wanted, and they can change it if they want.....but they likely won't.
Really? So my contract plan does not require me to have a data package on it with my smart phone? Funny, I distinctly remember reading something about that in it. By what you state I should be able to just call them up and tell them I want to cancel the data plan on my phone and they will.

Yes, it does require you to have a data package, but doesn't specify WHICH data package. Just that it has to be $29.99 or above.
Edit: The same way that it does not specify which minute plan you must have, but you will not be able to cancel the minute plan without paying the ETF. You CAN change the minute plan, though.
