Why are people getting e-mails when I text them?

So I recently changed my phone number and after completing the activation steps successfully, I started texting my contacts my new number.  However, some of my contacts are receiving an email that seems to just show a snapshot of the text I sent them.  Any ideas on what could be happening?  Thanks.  I am using an Iphone 4s.

settings messages then send & receive. is an email checked off there?

it was check marked at first but now I have unchecked it, hopefully everything will work correctly now, thanks!
