Why bother w/ins when I can't even get a loaner phone?

Having issues with my 6 mo old iPhone 4s. Twice now it shuts off for no reason. It eventually turns back on. Third time now and it's been 3 days & nothing. Went online to only find out that the "insurance" plan has a $169 deductible!!! Seriously?? What's the point when you can get an unlock phone for less and not interfer with your plan.

So I go to my local Verizon store tonight so see about a loaner phone (even if I use the warranty it would be until Wed). After waiting 30 mins only to be told "We don't have loaner phones here". Seriously??? Only 2 Verizon stores in this area and neither has a loaner phone even though a previous Verizon forum says you do. Bulls^%$!

The worse part, Target is selling new iPhone 4s for $149!! So I will be paying more for the same phone. Thanks for rewarding loyal customers. For the amount of money I have spent on insurance for the last 6 mos, $199 for the 1st phone and now $169 for the 2nd, thats $428!!! That's almost the full cost of the phone in 6 mos. Unbelievable. And I'm only 6 mos in.

Guess what? I found a phone repair place in Philadelphia, $89 to fix anything and if they can't fix it no charge!! Cracked screens are $50! No lie.

Please tell me again why I bought insurance???

I should have just bought a phone full price and switched back to Tmobile & waited for the rest of phone to be done the contract a few months later. BIG MISTAKE!!! And now receiving notice that I will be switched this Share Plan that will cost me $30 more a month for less data. Thanks Verizon. Feel like I just got raped.

Its 149.99 at target with an upgrade. You wouldn't pay that price, you would pay 600 plus.

Use your warranty, not insurance, unless your phone is damaged.

I am unclear about what you wrote about being notified you'd be switched to Share Everything. If you're 6 months into your contract, you can keep your plan, even if you do a warranty or insurance replacement.

Your mIstaken if you have the extended warrenty which if you pay 9.99 a month you call Verizon and the eeplace it for free. If you didn't pay $9.99 then you didn't get the right one which isent Verizon's fault. You could get apple care if your within the first year still I think it's $60.00 only at the apple store. If you lost damaged etc that is the deductable. And as said the price at target etc is 2year price plus $30 upgrade fee. Apple might have a deal if your after reg warenty but who knows.

I assume you have unlimited data? If you upgrade you will lose your plan. If pay for a Verizon full priced you can't switch to tmobile. I assume you mean an unlocked phone. I'm in the same I have unlimited data and can't upgrade I'll lose everything. I've known for awhile.

Even with a "waterproof" case I had corrosion. That was a waste of $80! So I had to pay the $169 deductible. The Iphone renewed my contract another 2 years so I'm screwed until then. My mom's line is eligible for an upgrade. When I called and was going to upgrade her line and then activiate the phone with my number (yes you can do that - the Verizon rep recommened it!) It would change her contract but not the rest of the phones. When the rest of our lines are done with the contracts, we will have the choice of Share Everything (more $$$) or pay full price for new phones to keep the unlimited data. Between 3 smartphones, yes we use more than 2 GB so I will be paying $40 more a month. I decided not to upgrade her phone and will wait for the 2 yrs to end and then decide.

Interesting part in all of this...I never received any notice about the 6/28/12 deadline for mom's line. When I mentioned that, the rep said they told no one. Nice!!!
