Why can't I hear?

I just got the IPhone 4S -- when someone calls me I cannot hear them -- they say I am loud & clear but they sound as if they are

in a deep deep well.  What can I do to clear this up?

Turn the in call volume up by pressing the upper button on the left hand side while in a call

The iPhone 4S devices come with a plastic screen protector that is only needed for transportation to the customer.  The protector needs to be removed to allow the phone earpiece to be available and fully functional. Please review that this has been removed and let us know if the trouble is resolved.  I do hope that other than the audio trouble, you're enjoying the new phone.
